Fill the Canoe School Supply Drive

It’s that time of year!

The Annual Fill the Canoe School Supply Drive is July 30–August 17.

The Red Canoe Credit Union will match $1 per pound of donated supplies. We want to break last year’s record of 5000 pounds!

This is easy & fun! Here’s how you can get involved in this community tradition & support our scholars:

  1. Host a drive at your church or business.
  2. Send money & WLOC will be happy to shop for you!
Go to donations page for Family Life Community Church and choose We Love Our City events.
  3. Shop & drop off supplies at Red Canoe Credit Union or Communities in Schools.
  4. Volunteers will be needed to organize supplies (date & time TBD).

Thanks for your continued efforts to love our city & for your neverending generosity!

Volunteers beautify Celebration Park

So much was accomplished at the 13th annual Parks Appreciation Day, thanks to the 365 volunteers that came and helped beautify Celebration Park in preparation for this year’s Summer Special Olympics. WLOC was excited to partner with our City again this year!

Hundreds of volunteers spent Saturday morning sprucing up Federal Way’s Celebration Park as a part of the 13th annual Parks Appreciation Day.

Tasks including painting, spreading beauty bark, planting flowers, trimming and other jobs to help clean up the park.

Last year, teams of volunteers worked at Alderbrook, Saghalie, Steel Lake and Celebration parks. This year all efforts focused on Celebration Park in preparation of the Special Olympics and other big sports tournaments scheduled for the summer.
