We Love Our City – 2017

October 1, 2017 — Over 300 volunteers from several local churches, along with city leaders, firend and family gathered Sunday for the annual We Love Our City Serve Day. The groups met at Journey Church, and the event began with a prayer for the city before the volunteers were divided into 12 different teams. The teams did various work at different locations, including Hallmark Manor nursing home, where teams sang, danced and handed out treat bags; William J. Woods Veterans Building, where volunteers assembled gift bags full of snacks, kitchen towels, thank you cards and other treats; Federal Way Day Center; Sacajawea Park and School; Twin Lakes; Thomas Jefferson High School; Truman Community Garden; Light of Christ Community Garden; Westway community, where volunteers mowed lawns, delivered treat bags, picked up trash, hauled several loads to the dump and recyclers; and Illahee Middle School Clothing Bank.
